Join us for an offering by Gadutra to the DESACTA altar of collected counterspells. Gadutra's contribution will be interwoven with a durational performance by Suelen Calonga happening parrtially simultaneously:
About Dentição, Gadutra shares: This is a grouping of future memories and community care knowledges to limit the violences of the impossible toward our bodies. It’s a composition of ocean grains to melt the blowing of cold winds. It’s the big wings of wisdom that lift my siblings souls into rest. It’s all the rage in my nails and all the salty tears that smooth the frequencies of my voice, words, thoughts.
A blended collaboration with minerals, smoke and leaves, in order to create visual gates of shields. To create protection, calmness and firmness.
Gadutra develops her practice through the experience of shared spaces and rituals. Her work unfolds across visual composition, sound exploration, and live performance. Born and raised in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, she creates artworks rooted in sound, painting, tattooing, and drawing – crafting languages that expand through texture, gesture, and corporeal memory. Her research examines how landscapes, materials, and frequencies can reorient the perception of self, merging sensorial layers into environments that evoke release, grounding, and presence. She explores sound through bass-driven structures, experiments with silence, and rhythmic impulses shaped by her proximity to unpredictability, while never restricting her practice to a single genre or technique.
Across stages, clubs, museums, and site-specific environments, Gadutra creates works that merge audiovisual impulses into atmospheric experiences. Her performances often investigate memory, communal care, and cosmoperception as a way of understanding continuity between body, land, and joy. She runs TroubleMaker Records and co-founded Safada, extending her practice into curation and collective creation. Through her multifaceted artistic language, she crafts worlds that propose attention, listening, and transformation as pathways for imagining new possibilities of being together.
