For many years, SAVVY Contemporary has homed a library, archive and documentation centre that has served our internal project research and musings and a local and international community of inquisitive minds from various backgrounds. Our visitors have shown an interest in our rare cultural and political publications from around the world that centre philosophies from the non-West, and the multitude of written texts: critical theory and literature, art magazines, political analysis, exhibition catalogues and poetry collections, the material on the sonic as well as our newly initiated section of music and sound art recordings.
We cordially invite you to walk a path of transmutation with us in this pillar of SAVVY Contemporary every Tuesday in May and June as we gather, read, listen, and engage with the materials we care for. Our previous title, “Tuesdays in the Library”, assumed that our materials are homed in a library. These next few weeks, we welcome you to SAVVY Contemporary to spend time with us and our media and ruminate on what constitutes a library and how to expand that notion as we move into a new phase. Until 04.06.2023, you will find our curated collection of research that centres our current exhibition, INDIGO WAVES AND OTHER STORIES: RE-NAVIGATING THE AFRASIAN SEA AND NOTIONS OF DIASPORA.
Pay us a visit to move, read, and listen forward with us.
